About us

A Tampa tradition, flying high since 1984

Floyd Head opened Head's Flags on 7th Avenue in Ybor City. Forty-two years on, his grandson and great-grandsons still answer the phone.

It started with a vision. In 1984 Floyd Head founded Head's Flags on 7th Avenue in the historic heart of Ybor City, building a business on quality craftsmanship and straight dealing. He was already a Tampa institution by then: the photograph on this page shows him in 1941 outside Floyd's Place, the soda stand he opened in Palmetto Beach the year before.

Today the shop is run by Floyd's grandson Tony and his wife, with Tony's sons working alongside them. The shop moved from Ybor to Henderson Boulevard in South Tampa, and the sewing machines, the flagpole trucks and the racks of flags moved with it. The values from that small Ybor shop did not change: integrity, quality and a commitment to the customers and community that kept us here.

What we do

We make custom flags and banners, sell made-in-USA flags of every kind, install and repair flagpoles from 20 to over 100 feet, and supply promotional products and branded merchandise.

Who trusts us

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the City of Tampa, U.S. Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Shriners International, the University of Alabama, UCF, Busch Gardens and hundreds of local businesses. See our customers.

American made

We hold a special pride in our national colors, which is why every American flag we sell is 100 percent made in the USA. Our roots are in Tampa Bay, but we ship custom flags and banners across the country and overseas with the same attention we give a neighbor who walks in for a 3×5.

From our family to yours, we look forward to helping you fly your colors with pride.
